WP-13 Virtual Machines as a Service (VMaaS)

Summary

Deliver managed virtual machines on Virtual Machines as a Service (ABB) using OpenShift Virtualization (SBB), with network and storage integrations.

Scope

  • Deliver standardized VM templates and lifecycle workflows on OpenShift Virtualization.
  • Define supported networking and storage integration profiles for VM workloads.
  • Provide migration guidance for legacy virtualized workloads moving to the platform.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Eligible VM profiles have accepted exact-version compatibility, storage, networking, protection, and observability evidence as defined in openshift-virtualization-architecture.
  • Live migration is accepted only for profiles that pass their planned migration and maintenance evidence; no unqualified p95 target is assumed.
  • VM provisioning uses the approved GitOps/API workflow and is RBAC-governed; a portal is optional and must not bypass the platform controls.
